Presenter Name & Title: President Greg Peterson, Salt Lake Community College

Dr. Greg Peterson is the ninth president of Salt Lake Community College, beginning his role on July 1, 2024. A first-generation community college student, he is deeply committed to expanding access and student success in higher education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Peterson has led initiatives that improve outcomes, including launching college promise programs, creating the nation’s first associate’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and strengthening workforce partnerships. His leadership has significantly increased transfer rates, particularly among underrepresented students, earning recognition from the U.S. Department of Education.

He is active in several national education organizations and previously served as President of Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Dr. Peterson holds a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s from Portland State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University.
